| Skala is the southernmost village of Kefalonia and is one of the busiest tourist resorts. What makes this village so famous, apart from the many hotels and restaurants with fresh fish, is the beautiful long beach, which is estimated to be more than 5km in length. The beach is a combination of thick sand and pebbles and blue waters providing a good place for visitor to do water sports or simply enjoy the sea view. Poros is a picturesque village with 1,000 residents in the south-eastern part of the island. An impressive landscape is what makes Poros different to the rest of the island, entering the village through the gorge created by the rocks, you will find a beautiful village surrounded by endless bays and a beach with turquoise waters stretching to the north of the village. It is an ideal place for swimming or simply relaxing in the various taverns and restaurants around the village. The cave of melissani is located close to the town of Sami, about 20km from Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. It is without a doupt one of the most significant places for tourist to visit in Kefalonia. Surprisingly there is a lake inside the cave that has trees and forests surrounding it. The sight is simply magical. The cave itself has the shape of a B with 2 chambers separated with an island in the middle. The roof of one of the chambers has caved in centuries ago letting now the sunlight shine into the lake and making it a breath-taking sight. When the sun is right above at noon, the sunlight hitting the turquoise-blue waters create a magical illusion and the whole cave of Melissani suddenly fills with blue light. At noon is the best time to visit the cave and enjoy a relaxing boat-ride with a traditional boat at the lake. The cave of Melissani is 36m high, 40m wide and 3.5m long. A balcony was built on top of the cave for tourists to get a spectacular view of the inside from the top. The lake has a depth of 20 to 30m. There is also stalactites and stalagmites in the cave that enhance even more its beauty. The cave of Melissani leaves a memorable and lasting impression to everyone who visits it. |
| Drogarati's Cave, which is close to Sami, was discovered 300 years ago, when a part of it was destroyed because of a strong earthquake, and so the entrance was created. The cave's depth is 60m. from the ground level and it is open for the public since 1963. It's got many stalactites and stalagmites created from the rain. In the big hall of the cave (900m2), call "Sala of Apotheosis" because of its perfect acoustics, are organized music and other shows. |

Agia Efimia is located on the eastern side of the island exactly opposite Ithaca. It is a beautifully picturesque village that offers a peaceful and relaxing location for visitors.It was traditionally a fishing village, with a small harbour. These days the harbour houses a variety of vessels, including yachts, sail boats and small speed boats. Many boats travelling around the Greek islands stop in Agia Efimia.There are many small coves with beautiful beaches in the area that are only accessible by boat. From the harbour you can hire a boat and explore the area by yourself. Assos is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages of Kefalonia. It is built amphitheatrically around the peninsula with steep slopes crossed by a narrow strip of land where the Venetian castle stands, another thing that makes this area famous. There is a small beach at the centre of the village making the area look more like a lake because of its geographic nature. The water is shallow and the bottom is paved with large pebbles. In the village you can find a variety of shops and taverns also you will notice that the houses are built with traditional architecture and are covered with bougainvilleas filling the place with a heady aroma. Here in Assos you can hire boats enabling you to explore the many small coves and beaches only accesible from the sea. |
| Fiskardo is a picturesque village in the northern part of Kefalonia. It links the island, by boat to Lefkas, Ithaca and Astakos. Fiskardo is the only village that remained virtually intact after the earthquake of 1953 and so it has kept the traditional architecture of the island. The area was declared a historical site and preserved as such giving the impression that time has stopped. It is one of the most cosmopolitan parts of the island with celebrities both Greek and foreign visiting the area. The large marina accommodates many boats and Yachts. And there is the chance to explore the beaches around that are only accessible by boat. A quaint village with many shops, taverns and bars all within walking distance make this place a popular destination. |
